This wedding was an adventure... my favourite kind! The evening before the wedding I received an alert on my phone that Waterton Village was under an evacuation alert. For those of you who don't know, Waterton was burned up pretty badly last year and is still recovering, so this news was more than a little stressful for those who were staying there and nearby.
The plan was for Hannah and Quinn to be sealed in a private ceremony in the Cardston Temple on Friday morning, and then travel to nearby Waterton for their photos, followed by an outdoor family dinner at a beautiful venue minutes from Waterton in Mountain View, with a calling reception in Calgary the next night. (amazing right?) Friday morning was smokey and chilly but as we waited outside of the ceremony space for them to make their grand exit, the sun started peeking out.
We enjoyed the sun and then made our way to Wateron, which was still under evacuation alert and we were unsure if they would even let us enter the park. They did and I am so glad, because the results we got were nothing short of incredible. As we finished the photos we heard thunder, so good for Waterton Park. So good.
We arrived for the family dinner and had only minutes to photograph the amazing setup before the rain sent the whole group into a community effort, moving a beautiful outdoor reception, to an equally beautiful indoor location, a steel barn with string lights and so much joy and chatter and food. We were even able to sneak out once the rain stopped for some more cute pictures!
Fun Fact about this wedding, Hannah bought most of the decor she used for her wedding from Goodwill or Value Village! And I think we can all agree it turned out amazingly. Congratulations Hannah and Quinn, thank you for sharing your wedding adventure with me.
