Brittany and Nathan tied the knot with me as their witness and ringbearer on a mountain trail in Revelstoke BC. They took the punches that were thrown at them by the weather (the first huge snowstorm of the year that cancelled their helicopter) and it was truly a beautiful day.
I have been photographing Brittany and her family for many years. When she met Nathan and asked me to photograph them this summer, I saw them together and knew this was it. When they asked me to photograph their helicopter elopement in Revelstoke this winter, I was more than excited!
The morning, if they're elopement was quiet and calm as they got ready together in a little cabin outside of Revelstoke. When we left for the helicopter pad, the weather had taken a huge turn for the worst. The helicopter company informed us that it wasn't safe to go up in these conditions, but Britney and Nathan were completely unfazed, they signed their paperwork in the helicopter house, and we hopped into the car to find another magical spot to get married.
We found a spot outside of Revelstoke that was accessible only by snowmobile. We planned to walk out a while and just get it done, but the kind people at the Revelstoke Snowmobile Club flagged down several random snowmobilers, and ask them if they could help us make this happen. The snowmobilers loaded up me, the bride and groom and the officiant, and we headed out to a beautiful look out, covered in snow to finally tie the knot. When we were all done, the wonderful people at the resort had arranged a vehicle with a “just married” sign for them to head back to the cars in.
It was wet and (very) cold, but such a special ceremony. I got the opportunity to be a witness, and a ringbearer, while these two tied the knot. We found a beautiful spot to take photos, and then headed to a local restaurant to celebrate with her closest friends and family.
It was really a beautiful day, and very on brand for these two, who just enjoyed every aspect of a day that kept on changing up on them! They headed out to snowboard the next day as a married couple.
Congratulations, Britney and Nathan!
